Animal cruelty probe after suspected wild boar remains found in Sai Kung

Police investigate suspected wild boar hunting in Sai Kung

Police are searching for four individuals suspected of hunting wild boars in Sai Kung. At around 9:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, officers patrolling near the entrance of Pik Shui Sun Village received a report that three or four individuals had abandoned a food cart, a backpack, and a reusable bag on a slope opposite the village entrance before fleeing the scene.

When officers inspected the items, they discovered several transparent plastic bags filled with fresh meat, believed to be from recently slaughtered animals. Initial examinations suggest the meat may have come from wild boars or young pigs.

According to the village chief, wild boars are commonly seen in the area, but villagers do not hunt them. The four suspects, who were reportedly not from the village, were last seen walking along the seaside village road and are suspected to be illegal immigrants. They allegedly panicked upon seeing a police car and fled, abandoning the meat at the scene.

The case has been classified as “Cruelty to Animals” and is under investigation by the Tseung Kwan O District Criminal Investigation Team. No arrests have been made so far.
